What is love?

What is love?

What comes to mind when you hear the word “I love you”? Does it trigger good memories or bad ones? Have you ever been struck by the love bug? Well, your guess is as good as mine.

Socrates once said, from our deepest desires often lies our deadliest hate. It is quite sad, puzzling and mind bugling, to fully grasp how sweethearts morph into bitterest of adversaries.

Indeed every Tom, Dick, and Harry on the face of the earth has a story to tell, whether good or bad.

However, there is indeed a very thin line between love and hatred.

Socrates once said, from our deepest desires often lies our deadliest hate. It is quite sad, puzzling and mind bugling, to fully grasp how sweethearts morph into bitterest of adversaries.

On the first page of every love story, it is indeed beautiful. The feeling is synonymous with a soothing breeze, which blows at night especially when you lie cozily in your bed. Nothing in the world can ever compare to this feeling. Love erupts emotions so powerful that, one can almost do anything.

A pool of emotions clouds every decision you make, you make sacrifices, you give your all, you sometimes even lose yourself to make your partner happy. Love builds bridges between hearts.

This powerful emotion is governed by a set of rules that defies the laws of logic and reason. It is the only language that speaks from the heart. Truth be told, just as anything in this life, Love is akin to a roller-coaster ride. Laced in myriad layers of ups and downs. The good times stirs memories we could savor forever, it lingers in our thoughts forever. We take pictures, selfies to create memories and share them with loved ones, just to relive each frozen moment.

Truth be told, just as anything in this life, Love is akin to a roller-coaster ride. Laced in myriad layers of ups and downs. The good times stirs memories we could savor forever, it lingers in our thoughts forever.

The good times embolden us, in every sphere of our lives. After all what is life, without “love”? Someone to share this beautiful experience with. Life without love is all but vanity. Love gives meaning to life, it’s man’s greatest gift.

The bad times leave an indelible mark on our lives. Most times we lose a part of ourselves  especially if the love goes south. We never come out the same, it affects our subsequent relationships, makes some people bitter, develop phobias and some people ply the road of suicide, for the cold hands of death to lay them captive.
The wave of divorce, breakups in contemporary times, is very distressing, and completely hard to fathom. The rippling effects associated with divorces and breakups could be so grave that it often envelopes people in a state of despondency.

So before you spew forth the three magical words which will liberate your lonesome heart ” Make sure you mean it” and Also have it in mind that, love is not all rosy. It has its fair share of ups and downs. It takes faith, commitment, hard work, to navigate through. Always remember” A loveless life is a living death.
